【摘要】:Gasketmaterialsundergoseveralprocessingstepsfrompointofmanufacturetoinstallationinaflange.Manyapplicationsrequireclosecontrolofdimensionalchange.Anaccuratetestmethodfordeterminingtherelativestabilityofvariousmaterialsisneededfordesignandqualityassurancepurposes.Thistestmethodisusefultowardsthatend.Itsimulatestheextremestorageconditionsthatamaterialmayundergopriortoinstallation.Samplesareallowedunrestrictedexpansionorcontraction,andsothistestmethodshouldnotbeusedtopredictbehaviorclampedinaflangeorotherapplications,orduringspecificprocessingsteps.Thistestmethodmeasureslinearchange,andmayneedtobemodifiedifthetestspecimenisnotflat,homogeneous,orfreeofvoids.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaproceduretodeterminethestabilityofagasketmaterialtolineardimensionalchangeduetohygroscopicexpansionandcontraction.Itsubjectsasampletoextremes,thatis,ovendryingandcompleteimmersioninwater,thathaveshowngoodcorrelationtolowandhighrelativehumidities.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
